The Grove

Lung Cancer Canada Grove…..A Forest of Promise

Lung Cancer Canada invites you to join us in an extraordinary and meaningful creation of the very first “Lung Cancer Canada Grove” in Canada.

Lung Cancer Canada and Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation have entered into an exciting and important alliance to create a unique grove of trees. LCC’s dedicated Grove is situated in the popular Seton Park, located at Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue in Toronto. Seton Park is a wonderful family meeting place where pathways weave and meander through this historic park allowing all to enjoy this oasis from city life. This space welcomes and is accessible to all who wish to enjoy the park and LCC’s Grove.
Lung Cancer Canada recognizes the part that trees play in the environment. They are the lungs of the earth. The trees planted in The Grove will be a tribute to the many courageous individuals and families who have fought their personal battles along their lung cancer journey.

The Vision

The dedication ceremony of the first phase of The Grove occurred on October 1st, 2006. A path leads to the heart of the Grove which is a circle of 8 large limestones, symbolic of a healing circle. The trees surrounding the circle are dedicated to the founding members of Lung Cancer Canada – Ralph Gouda, Magdalene Winterhof and Dr. Yee Ung.

The Grove design has been donated by the noted landscape architect, Martin Wade, and allows for expansion of the pathways and tree plantings. Our plan is to add donated trees, art and benches at a ceremony twice a year, Spring and Fall. Phase 2 will have a path leading to an apple tree through a line of trees.

Apple blossom leaves are the logo of Lung Cancer Canada.
They represent lungs and symbolize health, hope and renewal for the future

Please support the vision. Every tree purchased will be planted and cared for by professional park associates. Trees and benches have a personalized plaque attached.

Trees may be purchased and dedicated for special events:
Donation, Anniversary, Graduation, Memoriam, Retirement, Thank you to special people.

The dedicated trees are priced at $1000.00. Please call the LCC office at 1-888-445-4403 for more details on tree types, location and the cost of benches and sculptures.

LCC plans to create dedication Groves in major cities across Canada over the coming years. If you are interested in helping us create a Lung Cancer Grove in your city, please contact us.
