Maintenance Trials

1. Study of First-line Maintenance Tarceva (Erlotinib) Versus Tarceva at Time of Disease Progression in Patients With Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer After Chemotherapy

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01328951

Purpose: This double-blind, placebo-controlled study will evaluate the benefit of first-line maintenance Tarceva (erlotinib) versus Tarceva at the time of disease progression in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have not progressed following 4 cycles of platinum based-chemotherapy and whose tumour does not harbor an EGFR activating mutation. Patients will be randomized to receive either Tarceva 150 mg orally daily or placebo until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. Patients who progressed on placebo will receive Tarceva 150 mg orally daily in second line until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Anticipated time on study treatment is up to 42 months.

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01186861

Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-controlled Phase 2 Study of Maintenance OSI 906 Plus Erlotinib (Tarceva®), or Erlotinib Plus Placebo in Patients With Nonprogression Following Four Cycles of 1st-line Platinum-based Chemotherapy for Advanced NSCLC.

3. Phase III Lucanix™ Vaccine Therapy in Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Following Front-line Chemotherapy (STOP)

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT00676507

Rationale: Vaccines made from gene-modified tumor cells may help the body build an immune response to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether vaccine therapy is more effective than a placebo as maintenance therapy in treatment of subjects with non-small cell lung cancer.

Purpose: This randomized phase III trial is studying vaccine therapy to compare the overall survival of subjects with stage III or IV non-small cell lung cancer treated with belagenpumatucel-L (Lucanix™) vs placebo.

4. Imetelstat as Maintenance Therapy After Initial Induction Chemotherapy in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01137968

The purpose of this is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of imetelstat (GRN163L) as maintenance therapy for patients with advanced stage NSCLC who have not progressed after 4 cycles of platinum based therapy.

Participants will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to imetelstat + standard of care versus standard of care alone. Participants who received bevacizumab with their induction chemotherapy will continue to receive bevacizumab on this study.
