Social Worker - MSW

We are looking for a Social Worker to assist in developing and managing our new program, Airways of Hope.
Reporting to the Director, Programs and Stakeholder Relations, the Social Worker will assess and support the psychosocial needs of the lung cancer patient and their family through collaboration with community resources. The Social Worker will provide emotional support and guidance in the area of assessment, treatment, and navigation to patients and families. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Providing necessary psychosocial assessment and service provision by telephone or video conferencing
• Establishing and facilitating a monthly National Virtual Lung Cancer Support Group over Zoom
• Developing relations with, as well as consulting and collaborating with local cancer centers
• Developing a scan of national and local initiatives offering support for lung cancer patients

Qualifications: MSW from an accredited university. Experience in individual and family counselling and evidence based psychosocial interventions. Experience with group support facilitation. Working knowledge of Zoom conferencing platform. Professional registration within Canada. Experience with Oncology Patients an asset. French language fluency strongly preferred.

Status: One-year contract, with option to renew

Salary Range: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Office Assistant - Youth Position

REPORTS TO: Director, Programs and Stakeholder Relations & Office Manager
STATUS: Summer Youth (15 - 30 years) Position
HOURS: Part-time or full time for a total of 240 hours during Monday to Friday 9-5 EST
PAY: $18/hour
LOCATION: Remote

Job Summary:

Working as a member of Lung Cancer Canada this position will assist in the content development, refresh, and layout of the Lung Cancer Canada Website using Kentico (including French) and a fall awareness campaign. They will also assist with fundraising activities and awareness events as needed.

Under the supervision of the Director, Programs and Stakeholder Relations and Office Manager and working closely with the members of the LCC team.
This position will be remote. The Candidate will need to use their own computer, internet and telephone.

As Office Assistant, main areas of responsibilities include:

Digital Strategies:
  • Assist in content development, refresh and layout of the Lung Cancer Canada website using Kentico
  • Website French content review
  • Assist with social media campaigns
  • Work with internal teams in developing and engaging stakeholders on social media platforms
  • Work with internal teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of health messaging on various channels including website, social media, and publications 
Operations and Support:
  • Works with internal teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of health messaging on various channels including website, social media and publications.
  • Assist with fundraising activities and awareness events as needed
Qualifications:
 
  • Have interest in digital communication, including website and social media
  • Excellent communication, writing and editorial skills, combined with a commitment to ensuring high level, responsible content delivery.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Resourceful, results-oriented with a positive, “can do” attitude
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred

Board Treasurer Position

Lung Cancer Canada is seeking a volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer with the following qualifications:
  • Education and experience in accounting and finance.
  • Understanding of the NFP Act. 
The successful candidate must prepare for and attend quarterly Board and Executive Committee meetings (in addition to special meetings that may occur throughout the year) and serve as a member of the Audit and Finance, as well as the Investment Committees of the board.

 Additional Duties
  • Ensure that the Corporation prepares and maintains adequate accounting records in compliance with the Act
  • Be responsible for the safekeeping of securities and the disbursement of the funds of the Corporation
  • Serve as an officer of the corporation.
  • Serve as a signing authority of the corporation.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the orgnization, serving as a representative of the organization to both internal and external constituencies.
  • Render an account of the Corporation’s financial transactions and of the financial position of the Corporation, at the request of the directors.
  • Perform other duties from time to time as prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Commitment
The Position Description encompasses the role. On a monthly basis, review of finances with the ED and bookkeeper, on a quarterly basis time is needed to review the financial statement package for Board presentation and, on an annual basis, the budget and assumptions used.

The time commitment usually averages 8 hours per month. 

The Treasurer is eligible to serve on LCC’s Board of Directors for 2 consecutive 2-year terms, not to exceed, in the aggregate, 6 years as treasurer
